From the office of the Attorney General : "Know your Educational Rights" and "Promoting a Safe and Secure Learning Environment"

The Greenfield Union School District is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for every student in all our schools, regardless of immigration status, as required by California law, including Assembly Bill (AB) 495, the Family Preparedness Plan Act of 2025.

The law aims to protect children and families from separation (particularly due to immigration enforcement) by allowing parents to designate trusted caregivers, expanding caregiver affidavit use, and creating joint guardianship options to ensure child stability during family crises like deportation, disability, or incarceration, while also ensuring school privacy regarding immigration status.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to Know Your Educational Rights and stress the importance of providing the school with, and regularly updating, emergency contact information, including additional contact information.
