؜ After School SUCCESS Program

UPDATES:

Due to the Pandemic of Covid-19, there is still uncertainty about how schools will operate in August.  As a result, various policies and procedures within the After School SUCCESS Program are subject to change, including enrollment, attendance requirements, and dismissal procedures.  Please visit our page on the district website for updates as they occur.  We want to ensure the utmost safety and care go into your student’s safety in ALL aspects of the ASSP. 

One of these changes will be our dismissal procedure at sites.  Dismissal sign-out will no longer happen in the cafeteria and will mirror the release of the instructional day. The ASSP Staff will ensure that your student is signed out from the ASSP prior to releasing your student at the end of the day. Each ASSP Staff member will ensure the student is being released and picked up safely.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach the After School SUCCESS Program Office at your student's site.  Thank you for your understanding as we work together to ensure the safety of all students.

The Greenfield After School SUCCESS Program operates every day after school until 6:00 p.m. at eleven sites (8 elementary and 3 middle schools), providing students with a safe place to complete homework, receive tutoring, play sports, and participate in a variety of academic enrichment activities including art, drama, and dance.  Also, students have the opportunity to support the community through service learning projects. The program’s mission, “to level the playing field so that young people can build their capacity to succeed”, is played out daily.

We have an outstanding staff of program facilitators, lead tutors, and site directors. Students help to plan, organize and implement the program activities, and parent feedback is gathered at regularly scheduled advisory meetings and through surveys. The SUCCESS Program is designated as an exemplary program and serves Region 8 (Kern, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura Counties) as a Regional Learning Center. In this capacity, program leaders from various school districts in the State visit to observe the day to day operations and the procedures in running an efficient after school program.

Participation in sports is open to all students irrespective of gender.

Philosophy

The SUCCESS program is designed around several key beliefs and principles. First and foremost, we believe that all children can reach high standards and that all children can profit from an expanded day program. We regard the health and safety of children as a major priority, and SUCCESS provides a nurturing environment and safe haven for children during critical non-school hours. 

The purpose of our program is to expand learning beyond the school day and beyond classroom doors and walls. Our program compliments supports and enhances daily classroom instruction. The program, while structured, provides staff and students with choices. Our program encourages creativity, imagination, and flexibility. Our program focuses on creating educational projects that make learning fun. Students participate in a balance of individual activities, small and large group activities, indoor and outdoor activities, and quiet as well as activate play. 

Vision

The vision of the Foundation for SUCCESS After School Program is a cadre of young adults who are economically self-sufficient, have healthy family and social relationships and are contributors to the community in which they live. This vision is attuned to the District's Mission that state the District is "preparing students for a life that is productive academically, physically, emotionally, socially, and economically."

Mission

The Foundation for SUCCESS is charged by the District with supporting a changing student population. In keeping with this responsibility, our mission is to level the playing field for young people allowing them to build the capacity to succeed.
