Greenfield Nutrition Services Earns County Certification

The Department of Public Health has certified the Greenfield Union School District Nutrition
Services Department as the first district in Kern County to earn the “certified healthy” seal of approval.

This means we are on par with Certified Healthy restaurants across Kern County serving hand-crafted meals, rich in nutrients and full of flavor. Good nutrition is important for both the physical and mental development of our students and we are excited to help launch this initiative in partnership with the Department of Public Health.

Obtaining a Certified Healthy seal is a great opportunity for our district to show our community that the meals we prepare and serve before our students is healthy and nutritious. Over the last 15 years, school districts across the county have been working serving healthier foods.

"I am appreciative that Kern County Public Health developed this program and can certify us as 'healthy'.  They are to be commended in leading the way in the state of California. We are honored for this recognition and I look forward to my fellow nutrition directors to get their certification as well," said Josh Rogers, Director of the GFUSD Nutrition Services.

GFUSD looks forward to earning a Gold Seal in the months to come.
