Boundary Changes for 2023-2024

Greenfield Families,

In our ongoing efforts to provide excellent educational opportunities for students and to better serve the
needs of our district, the Greenfield Union School District Board of Trustees approved new school
boundaries that will go into effect for TK - 6th Grade students beginning the 2023-2024 school
year. These changes may impact where your child attends school next year. Please let this serve as
communication related to the following: New boundaries; Intradistrict open enrollment; and transportation.

To find out what school belongs with your address under the new changes visit gfusd.net click on "DISTRICT," scroll down to "District Map/Attendance Areas" and click on the interactive map. Select the 2023-2024 school year and type in your student's address.

Elementary Schools:
• If your student will be in TK-4th grade for the 2023-2024 school year, their school of attendance
will be based on the new boundary maps.
• If your student will be a 5th grader in the 2023-2024 school year, is scheduled to attend a different
school based on the new boundary maps, and wishes to remain at their current school of
attendance, parent/guardian must submit an Intradistrict Open Enrollment request to be considered
for placement. Priority will be given to those 5th grade students who wish to remain at their current
school of attendance and will be based on available space.

Middle Schools:
• If your student will be in 6th grade for the 2023-2024 school year, their school of attendance will
be based on the new boundary maps.
• If your student will be in 7th or 8th grade for the 2023-2024 school year, they will remain at their
current school of residence.

As described in GFUSD Board Policy (BP) and Administrative Regulation (AR) 5116.1, any
parent/guardian who chooses to apply for an Intradistrict transfer shall complete an application
during the open enrollment period which will occur January 23- February 3, 2023. The Superintendent
or designee shall calculate each school’s capacity using student enrollment data and available space and
shall use a random, unbiased selection process (lottery process) to determine which students shall be
admitted whenever admission requests are received.
Intradistrict transfers submitted outside the open enrollment window will be considered for placement after
the 2023-2024 school year begins, typically within two weeks of the start of the new school year.

Final determination on transfer requests will be based on each site’s enrollment capacity. More
information regarding lottery procedures will be provided soon.

Transportation:
If an intradistrict open enrollment transfer is granted, parents/guardians will be responsible for providing
transportation to the school site.
